SACRAMENT OF INITIATION
Confirmation
In Confirmation, we are strengthened by the Holy Spirit and called to live our Catholic faith with courage, maturity, and joy.
THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit
Confirmation, together with Baptism and the Eucharist, is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation. Through this sacrament, our initiation into the Catholic Church is completed and we are strengthened by the fullness of life in the Holy Spirit.
Confirmation is not the end of faith formation, but a call to continue growing as a disciple of Christ and to live the Catholic faith with courage, prayer, and service.

PREPARING FOR CONFIRMATION
Growing as a Disciple of Christ
Confirmation preparation helps young Catholics deepen their relationship with Christ, grow in their understanding of the faith, and prepare to live as mature disciples empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Sacramental Foundation
Candidates must be baptized and have received First Communion. Sacramental certificates are required.
Faith Formation
Candidates should already be actively participating in faith formation as they enter the Confirmation preparation process. OLR’s Faith Formation page currently specifies at least one prior year of formal formation.
Formation & Community
Preparation includes catechetical presentations, opportunities for service, and participation in a retreat.
Regular Classes
Confirmation classes currently meet on Wednesdays from 6:30 PM–8:00 PM in the Parish Center, September through May.
IMPORTANT FORMATION NOTES
Every Candidate’s Journey Is Different
Some young people may need a different preparation path depending on their sacramental and faith formation history. Our parish will help families determine the appropriate next step.
Still Preparing for First Communion
If a candidate has not yet received First Communion, preparation may be provided as part of the Confirmation process.
Age 18 and Older
Those over age 17 are generally encouraged to prepare for the sacraments through OCIA.
Returning to Faith Formation
A young person who received First Communion and later stopped attending Faith Formation is required by OLR to complete three years of Faith Formation before Confirmation
TAKE THE NEXT STEP
